The panel discussion on seafarers’ rights from a female seafarers’ perspective will explore the impact of National and International laws which govern the maritime workforce, including the new Employment Rights Bill, the Seafarers Wages Act, and the upcoming updates to the Maritime Labour Convention effective December 2024.
Panelists will discuss how legislative changes aim to address workplace challenges, ensure fair wages, and improve working conditions for all seafarers, with examples of how workplace protections vary greatly between land based and seagoing maritime professionals. Through personal stories and expert insights, the discussion will highlight both the progress made and the areas needing further improvement to support and empower women in the maritime industry.
